About

At the point where the Erzurum-Samsun highway is at the exit point of Artvin city center, opposite the Artvin Bridge located on the Coruh River, 70 m. at the height of the bedrock. There are cistern and chapel ruins inside the castle. This fortress at the entrance of Artvin city on the banks of the Coruh River was built in 937 by the King of Bagrat (Georgian) King Oshet. The old name of the castle was Livana.

On the ruins of this fortress VI. In the 19th century, the Ottomans built a new castle and repaired in various periods. It is a small fortress and controls the entrance to the city. The restoration of the castle was completed in 2004 and the lighting project of the castle was completed in 2012.

Permission should be taken
